Desk of the Chairman August 2024

July 30, 2024 by NCOA Rogue

Fellow members:

Some of you may be aware, but I am pleased to announce that Rogue Chapter was selected as the Large Chapter of the year for 2023 and that was only possible because of all of our chapter members.  I also want to congratulate the Magnum Force chapter out of Michigan as the Small Chapter of the Year and Trails End Auxiliary as the Auxiliary Chapter of the Year.

For the past several years I have been fortunate to have served on the NCOA International Board of Directors.  A lot of good things were accomplished during the time when I served and for that I am grateful that I was given the opportunity to be part of those changes.  With the recent conference, my tenure on the Board has come to an end and I wish those who now take the responsibility all of the best.  This past conference produced some sad moments when a number of friends were not able to attend and they were missed, but the absolute high point was being part of the sword detail for the Hall of Fame ceremony where a chapter member and longtime mentor and friend, Sir Troy Hensley, was indicted into the NCOA Hall of Fame.  Sir Troy will be missed!

I need to clarify one of the articles in the newsletter.  The recruiting article on page 3 points out only 1 prize of $100 and I have subsequently decided to offer a 2nd and 3rd prize as well to give more people an opportunity to earn some money just before Christmas.  First prize is $100, second prize is $50 and third prize is $25.  It is also open to recruiting into any category, so if you recruit an auxiliary member for the Roguette Auxiliary, you will also be entered into the drawing.  The newsletter article gives all of the other details about how to submit the application and to where it needs to go.  I want to be perfectly clear, all prize money will come from personal funds and no chapter funds are involved.
